About CRAFC

Charlton Rovers AFC was founded in 1976 by the parents of young children attending Glenfall Primary School in the Charlton Kings area of Cheltenham. The club continues to be run by enthusiastic parents, friends of the club and players, and is a not-for-profit organisation.

Our mission is to provide football to all, regardless of ability or background.

Famous old boys include former Cheltenham Town players Martin Devaney, Michael Jackson and Matt Bower.

Charlton Rovers is an FA Charter Standard club, and in the process of applying for Charter Standard Development Status.

Junior Section

For the 2016-17 season, the club has 20 teams providing football for boys and girls aged between 8 & 18. We have four teams playing league mini-soccer, at U9 and U10, and sixteen teams in the Cheltenham Youth League from U11 to U18.

Our Saturday Club attracts boys and girls from aged 6 to 8 (Years 2 & 3) who want to learn basic football skills and progress into the league teams from U9 onwards. We train each Saturday morning from September to Easter (0930 to 1030) on the all-weather surface at Balcarras Sports Centre.

Senior Section

We are very pleased to have 3 senior teams competing in the Gloucester Northern Senior League and Cheltenham Association Football League this season.

To ensure the boys could continue playing football and training beyond aged 18, in 2003 the club entered a team into the Cheltenham Saturday league. The senior section has thrived and in addition to providing continued football for the Charlton Rovers boys, attracts players from the Cheltenham area.

The teams train on an Astroturf pitch, and the first team plays on a county standard pitch at Balcarras Sports Centre. The reserves and thirds home ground is at the Beeches. If you like to play and train with Charlton Rovers, please get in touch.
